Hypoaspis are hardy insects and can adapt to a wide variety of conditions except flooding. These mites will survive mild winters but are inactive below 57°. As with most beneficial insects Hypoaspis work best as a preventative control, before pest populations are high.
It is recommended to apply Hypoaspis before or shortly after planting. To control high infestation of fungus gnats, Hypoaspis can be used with beneficial nematodes (Steinernema feltiae. SF)
Hypoaspis life cycle takes approx. 18 days. Hypoaspis eggs hatch in 2 to 3 days into nymphs. Each Hypoaspis can consumes 1 to 5 pest per day. Also survives if pests are not present by feeding on algae and plant debris
*Note: These rates are for preventative control only, multiple releases and/or higher quantities are necessary for heavier infestations.
